Burst

One night I was doodling around, well aware that I was listening to the same song over and over again. It was just one of those days and one of those songs where listening to it almost felt physically good. So I tried to sketch out how good music can feel when it really really good.

(For those curious, I was listening to Love Rainbow by Arashi. Fangiiirl~)

Caricature

One of our in-class illustration assignments was a caricature of ourselves, by ourselves.

Its not anywhere as nice as the caricatures drawn by my friends at the end of Heads and Hands last semester, but apparently my teacher liked it enough to make a copy to show to future classes (as a 'what not to do' Im sure. ;_;)

Father Frost

The biggest project at the end of Illustration 1 is the Narrative Illustration, where you take a quote from a story or fable and illustrate it. I really love the story of Morozko or "Father Frost", where a good girl is rewarded for her kindness to Father Frost, but her bitchy stepsister gets frozen. Anyway, my quote (too lazy to quote it, sorry!) takes place where Father Frost brings the girl a cloak studded with silver embroidery, pearls and diamonds. I had to do 3 color comps, so here they are.

Number One actually has this lovely pale orange snow, but the paint didnt scan very well. In any case, the big winner for the final project was number 2, with the blue theme. Stick around for when I pull it off!

Transforming Shape

So one of our first homeworks, if no the first one in Illustration 1 is the transforming object, where you take something, and using its outline, turn it into a bunch of other, related, things. So my object, I kind of cheated... I really really wanted a circus theme, and to have a strongman, so I reverse engendered that tent and ferriswheel to fit it.

Boobies, Butts and Bedroom Eyes

Theres a good reason I dont post a lot of my art from my Figure Painting class. That being its in oil paint, and oil paint and I are mortal enemies. That being said, there are the rare studies that I like enough to save:

Like this one.

However, usually homeworks get better attention that leads to a better painting. Im actually pretty happy with this self portrait.

Finally, our last big push in Figure Painting is a 4 week pose. I took so liberties with the model, turning her into a satyr (it seems nearly mandatory I do a satyr project in every class.)! Its just a cell phone picture and some wonky perspective is at work, but the chest is coming along nicely!

Quick Cat Sketches

Just a few sketches of cat studies from picture, as well as some drawings of yours truly. The frantic looking cat Im holding and who stars in the lower right-hand corner is my cat, Clump. Yes, she does always look that distressed, not just when Im holding her.

The comic is biased on the fact that my friends took a group photo at our "friendsgiving", and I was reminded that I have little dog syndrome and have no concept of how small I am. =A=
